ID Bear Bait Photos
« on: May 06, 2012, 08:13:30 PM »
So I get out to the bait site today and it is DEVASTATED!!  Yea baby.  Everything is cleaned up.  I look at my camera and I have 768 photos from yesterday.  WOW!  So I replenish the bait and head out.  First photo I thought oh yea a color phase bear and he's not a bad size.  Here is a few of the photos:

But he's not quite as big as I originally thought

Then this guy showed up

BUT.....I had 520 photos of these guys.  They completly wiped out the bait.  I will take a barrel up there tomorrow.  It was actually pretty shocking to see how quickly they ate 2 full beaver carcasses and 20 pounds of other meat!!!!

I have some used peanut oil from my turkey fryer, molasses, sweet COB, beaver carcasses, and some old outdated meat from the freezer.

Way cool man!  That brownie would make a nice seat cover for the Ford since he likely won't cover a couch too well.  It's going to be hard to keep the birds out of any bait.
Bring a GPS!  It's awkward to have to eat your buddies!

I was thinking slippers.  :)  I don't think I'll be sticking an arrow through that one.  Too bad someone else won't let him/her grow a bunch.  Beautiful coat.

I wouldn't advise it, way too close to the border.  We'd end up in trouble for sure....trust me, I want SO bad to chase her, I think she'd be a great training aid.  :)

Nice photos.

The blonde color made me think of this funny story that happened to a buddy and me down in the Frank Church.  We saw an ENORMOUS blond bear eating on an elk carcass.  Watched for a long time, and there was a smaller bear milling around too.  The big bear was never aggressive, and I assumed that it was a yearling with its mom.  The big bear finally ambled off, leaving the smaller bear.  It then dawned on my small brain that this was NOT mom and yearling.

CRAP!

My buddy gave me a lot of grief over that because I told him not to shoot.  I felt awful about it, because it was a true cranker of a bear and a great color to boot.

Wow, sounds like a real toad!  On Royaltine's website there is a fella who went through his guide school last year, his first year out they killed a 600+ pound color phase bear that was 7'7".  The photos are really something to see!  They killed it in WY.
